Balanced Juxtaposition
This gorgeous shower from a recent Master Bathroom Makeover is a terrific example of balanced juxtaposition in selecting design elements. It includes attractive fixtures in champagne bronze, the classic good looks of subway tile on the exterior, and diamond patterned marble accents atop a base of natural stone in an earthy neutral hue.
Sleek, Clean & Inviting
The feel of the design is neither decidedly feminine, nor overtly masculine, but rather has a sleek, clean, inviting look that is appealing to either gender. With a white/off-white color palette that skews toward cool slate blues in the shadows, and in the interior, beneath the light, a warmer hue emerges, adding a whisper of the palest of petal pinks to the otherwise taupe-y off white of the interior. Isn’t it interesting how the slightest touch of warmth creates an inviting feeling that makes you want to stop what you’re doing and slip beneath the rainwater showerhead inside?
Artful Tile Contrast
Next, consider the tile choices. White, rectangular subway tile at the face and on the exterior. Square tiles of natural stone in natural hues cladding the basin floor. And the marble diamonds, a resolutely attractive accent in their muted whites and greys on the rear feature wall. When different shapes and patterns are successfully intermingled, few truly notice. It just works. And that is the case here, with the choice of the smaller square tile, the slightly larger rectangular tile, and the further variation of the diamond shaped tile. That’s simple, tasteful design, artfully done.
